Preparatory Survey for Road Network Development Project in Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao, 2017-2018


This JICA-funded grant is in recognition of the need to complement the progress made on the peace process with the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro and the necessity to supply the needed infrastructure in the region. The project covers the preparation of feasibility study of 9 priority roads and 2 bridges in the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao that were identified in Bangsamoro Development Plan-II Project conducted in 2016. The importance of this initiative was emphasized in the full representation of the Mayors of 11 municipalities of Maguindanao, 3 municipalities in Lanao del Sur, Marawi City, the Regional Legislative Assembly for ARMM, and the respective agencies that composed the Steering Committee for the project.

The scope of the work for the study included selection of optimum alignment, topographic survey, geotechnical investigation, traffic survey, environmental and social survey, preparation of Indigenous People and resettlement action plans, construction method and planning, cost estimation, economic and financial analysis, implementation planning, and preparation of engineering designs.
