: Engineer Jovito Santos, Ph.D. was a panelist together with Engineer Ernesto Gregorio, Director of the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance and Engineer Toribio Ilao, Director of DPWH Bureau of Equipment. The discussion topic was on “Ensuring Safety and Cost Effectiveness for Construction and Maintenance of Future Roads, Bridges, and Tunnel Projects”.

: Mr. Shuji Kaku, PM of FRIMP-Tagoloan River Basin Flood Control, graced the facility’s inauguration given by DPWH’s Sec. Mark Villar and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda. Also present in the unveiling of the marker of the new dike were USEC for UPMO and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain, JICA Chief Representative Yoshio Wada, then Project Director Patrick Gatan, Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano, and DPWH Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan. The inauguration was held on July 9, 2019 in Tagaloan City, Misamis Oriental.

: The unveiling by Sec. Villar, Governor Emano, Japanese Ambassador Haneda and JICA Chief Representative Wada of the Project Marker bearing the flags of the Philippines and Japan, the logos of DPWH, JICA, Misamis Oriental Provincial Office, and the Consultants Consortium led by CTII with associates Nippon Koei Co., Woodfields Consultants, Philkoei International Inc., and Foresight Development and Surveying Company.

: DPWH Secretary Villar, USEC Sadain, and then Project Director Gatan conferring with Japan Ambassador Haneda and CTII’s Project Manager Shuji Kaku about the coverage and location of the new flood protection dike. The Tagoloan River Basin Flood Control was funded through a loan agreement from JICA amounting to Php 778 Million.

: The flood control structure involved the construction of a revetment structure with the length of 692 meters upstream and 1.9 kilometers downstream. The project used geotube with net gabions and sand-filled mattress. The Tagoloan River Basin Flood Control is one of the flood risk management projects under CTII’s Flood Risk Management Project for principal river systems of Cagayan, Imus, and Tagoloan.
