Master Plan for Flood Management in Metro Manila and Surrounding Areas is a Technical Assistance Project by World Bank for DPWH. Borne from the onslaught by Tropical Typhoon Ondoy in 2009, the project was implemented in 2011-2012 to study the metropolis’ existing flood management infrastructures and institutional mechanisms on flood response. From the study, a Flood Risk Management Plan covering Laguna Lake Basin, 4 River Basins, and 3 Drainage Basins was formulated. The Plan proposed strategic projects like Marikina Dam, climate change adaptation measures, and flood information and warning system.
